And here at the Emini Trade Room, we subscribe to the same notion.  Our goal is simplicity.  Our primary focus is active day trading in only one market of the CME Group, normally the E-Mini Dow Jones Futures (YM) or the SP 500 E-Mini (ES) Futures Contract.

A few things about our trading philosophy..

First, to be successful trading in the futures market, you need an edge that focuses on two things:  Direction and Timing.  We've designed a directional method that helps time entries.  Without timing, direction is meaningless.  An accurate assessment of direction will still result in loser behavior without proper timing.  

​

Then, you need to trade Reactively  to your edge only.  You cannot be proactive where a setup does not exist.  Proactive trading leads to overtrading.  Be reactive and be objective.  Always ask, am I too early here (proactive trading) or am I too late (chasing)?

 

Lastly, you need to know how to Manage the Trade.  You need the ability to take heat.  No one can time trades so that price runs direct to targets.  And fear will take money from a correct analysis.  Smooth seas never made a skilled mariner.  So let the trust in your edge and analysis dwarf your fear of taking heat. 

 

If you can put all three together, there's nothing else you need to do.  

It's that simple -- yet it'll most certainly be one of the hardest thing you'll ever do.

And while we know some truly excellent traders who are consistently profitable at trading multiple markets, the average retail trader who tries watching metals, energies, grains, meats, currencies and financials will lack focus, break rules, chase moves and fail.   

 

We commit to simplicity and getting the noise out.  We commit to stop listening to all the ridiculous charlatans who love to narrate the left side of a chart after hours without any skill to trade live at the right edge.  

 

Forecasters do not make money for one reason -- no one can forecast timing. 

 

We are not Gurus selling Grails here.  They do not exist.  And they are the enemy of a good plan.  We are discretionary retail traders and we have an understanding of zero sum, what moves the market, and have formulated a methodology we believe in.
